Terms of use
Version of [publication date].
These terms govern the use of the Advocado platform, published by [Company], [legal form], with its registered office at [address], registered with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises under number [number] (“Advocado”, “we”).
1. Purpose
Advocado provides lawyers and law firms with an online platform of working tools: building exhibit bundles, redaction, questions about documents, hearing replacements and secure transfers.
2. Acceptance and account
Creating an account means accepting these terms and the privacy policy. The platform is meant for professionals: you declare that you use it in the course of your professional activity.
Your account is personal. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for the actions taken from your account, and you inform us without delay of any unauthorised use.
3. Free trial and subscription
Each new account gets a 14-day free trial, without any means of payment. After that, access to the tools requires a subscription of €14.99 per month excluding VAT, payable in advance through our payment provider. An invoice is issued for each payment.
The subscription renews every month and can be cancelled at any time from the platform. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, without refund of the period already started.
We may change our prices with at least 30 days’ notice; you may then cancel before they take effect. New features may be offered separately.
4. Use of the platform
You use the platform in accordance with the law and your professional obligations. It is forbidden to try to access other users’ data, to disrupt the service, to upload unlawful content or malicious software, or to use secure transfers to send content you are not allowed to share.
5. Your documents and professional secrecy
You remain the sole owner of the documents you process, and solely responsible for their content and for respecting professional secrecy.
Documents processed by the bundle, redaction and question tools are processed in memory while the result is produced, and are not kept. Files sent by secure transfer are encrypted in your browser; Advocado does not have the key and cannot read them.
6. Tool results and artificial intelligence
Automated tools (text recognition, redaction, answers generated by artificial intelligence) may contain errors or omissions. It is up to you to check every result before using it, in particular that all mentions to be redacted have indeed been blacked out. Answers from the “Ask the file” tool are generated automatically from your documents and are not legal advice. To the extent permitted by law, Advocado does not guarantee that they are accurate, complete or relevant, and accepts no liability for their content or for the use you make of them. The passages cited in support of an answer let you check it in your documents: do so before relying on it.
7. Replacements
Published posts and messages are visible to other registered users. Advocado only puts lawyers in touch: the replacement agreement, its terms and its performance are solely a matter for the lawyers concerned.
8. Secure transfers
A transfer’s link contains its decryption key: only send it to its recipients. The files are deleted when the transfer expires or when you withdraw it; keep your own copies.
9. Availability
We do our best to keep the platform available, without guaranteeing uninterrupted access. Interruptions may occur for maintenance, updates or incidents.
10. Liability
Advocado has an obligation of means. Except for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, our liability is limited to direct damage and capped at the amount paid for the subscription in the twelve months before the event giving rise to it. We are not liable for indirect damage, such as loss of clients, opportunities or data.
11. Intellectual property
The platform, its code, its design and its content belong to [Company]. You receive a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right of use for as long as your access lasts.
12. Personal data
How we process your personal data is described in our privacy policy.
13. Term, termination and changes
You can stop using the platform and ask for your account to be deleted at any time. We may suspend or close an account for a serious breach of these terms, after formal notice, except in urgent cases.
We may change these terms. Any significant change is announced to you at least 30 days in advance; if you refuse it, you can cancel your subscription before it takes effect.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Belgian law. Any dispute falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of [Brussels]. Questions: [contact email address].
